Skid shoes for cranes

December 2008 – Skid shoes form the part of the crane that supports the mast. The skid shoes can be moved around a track to increase the reach of the crane. De Boer Snijbedrijf has cut 68 tons of steel to size for the skid shoes in the ALE Heavylift SK48 and SK90 cranes, which are used for large lifting jobs throughout the world.

Bridge builder in Ghana

December 2008 – Ghana is a country with a surface area of more than 238,000 km2 and a population of about 25 million. The country is criss-crossed by a number of large rivers. In recent years, a large number of modular steel bridges have been supplied to Ghana, varying in length from 20 to 50 m. De Boer Snijbedrijf cut a number of structural components for these bridges to size.

New dot marking system

September 2008 – De Boer Snijbedrijf recently started operating with a new system for dot-marking its products. The new system makes clearly legible, permanent marks in steel and aluminium to a consistent quality standard. In this way, it is always possible to see which sheet the product has been cut from, as well as its properties and the norms it complies with. The new dot marking system safeguards marking quality.

Delivery vessel lids from Uitgeest

July 2008 – De Boer Snijbedrijf regularly cuts, positions and welds parts for the lids of delivery vessels used in a large steel factory. Liquid steel is poured into delivery vessels or furnaces that are closed using lids. Liquid steel is incredibly hot, so it's not surprising that lids break and need replacing quite regularly.

Made-to-measure gratings

March 2008 – De Boer Snijbedrijf routinely cuts strips for the production of industrial gratings for a variety of applications. The collaboration with De Boer Staal enables De Boer Snijbedrijf to keep standard stocks of 25,000 tons of steel in all the usual dimensions and grades. With its flexible and service-oriented organisation, De Boer Snijbedrijf not only does the cutting work accurately, but also at short notice. That's why many of our clients are regulars.

Sails in the polder

December 2007 – The Netherlands has an international reputation as the country of tulips, cheese, clogs and windmills. Although windmills can be found in other countries, the Netherlands has produced most varieties and achieved the highest level of perfection in terms of construction. De Boer Snijbedrijf has cut various steel parts to size for the restoration of polder windmills.

New CADCAM software

September 2007 – Optimal utilisation of the cutting machines requires that they are programmed optimally. For that reason De Boer Snijbedrijf uses the latest version of PROfirst CADCAM. Since the introduction of the new software, the programming and cutting times of the cutting machines have dropped dramatically. Moreover, the new program ensures optimum nesting which saves a lot of material and lets the cutting machines run unmanned.

Collision protection for bridge Leeghwaterbrug

June 2007 – Early 2008 the reconstruction of the eastern part of the Alkmaar ring road, part of provincial road N242, must be completed. It includes the bridge Leeghwaterbrug which is also being renovated. De Boer Snijbedrijf and Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard have cut to size and galvanised major components for the reconstruction of this bridge.

Bustle on the seabed

December 2006 – In the old days people built a platform, drilled one well and completely emptied an oil or gas field. Today they drill as many as fifty wells, connect these by pipes and pump the fuel to one station. This is much cheaper than one drilling rig per borehole and it has created a completely new industry for pipelayers. De Boer Snijbedrijf carried out various cutting works for the production of advanced pipelaying machines.

Renovation Knight Tower

June 2006 – Castle De Haar in Haarzuilens is being renovated extensively. De Boer Snijbedrijf has cut steel for a support structure. This structure relieved the forces on the foundation. The foundation was under heavy pressure. But the work of De Boer Snijbedrijf contributed to solving this problem.
